Evaluación de la gestión de residuos sólidos urbanos mediante criterios de sostenibilidad en municipios intermedios de Bolivia

El propósito de este estudio fue evaluar la gestión de residuos sólidos urbanos mediante criterios de sostenibilidad en municipios intermedios de Bolivia, considerando dimensiones técnicas, ambientales, sociales, económicas e institucionales. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo-correlacional y diseño transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 137 participantes vinculados con la gestión municipal de residuos, entre técnicos municipales, operadores del servicio de aseo urbano, recicladores de base y representantes comunitarios de seis municipios intermedios bolivianos. Se aplicó un cuestionario estructurado con escala tipo Likert, organizado en seis dimensiones: cobertura del servicio, separación y aprovechamiento, disposición final, sostenibilidad financiera, participación ciudadana e inclusión de recicladores. Los resultados evidenciaron que la cobertura de recolección presenta una valoración media-alta; sin embargo, la separación en fuente, el aprovechamiento de residuos orgánicos e inorgánicos, la sostenibilidad financiera y la inclusión formal de recicladores muestran debilidades importantes. Además, se plantean lineamientos para fortalecer educación ambiental, recolección diferenciada, control técnico, financiamiento local y corresponsabilidad entre autoridades, recicladores y ciudadanía en procesos municipales sostenibles. Se concluye que la gestión de residuos sólidos urbanos en municipios intermedios requiere avanzar desde un modelo centrado en recolección y disposición final hacia un sistema integral, circular y participativo.
